Campos not just for coffees!
Normally we start our weekends with a BANG! On a Saturdays we walk Evi, have breakfast and do a few hours of exercise before a lot of people have even opened their eyes. Today however, we decided to pare things back a bit. It has been a big week for us, not just because we launched ACL but we are also making lots of other changes in our lives like moving house, new jobs, study, etc. We are pushing the boundaries of ‘getting comfortable with the uncomfortable’ and figured we needed some down time! So this morning we didn’t raise our heads until 6:20AM, and as our friends will understand, that’s a BIG sleep in! Evi was delighted at our slumber and took full advantage by hopping up on the bed and snuggling right in between us for a cuddle before proceeding to engage in several lick attacks to actually get us ‘out’ of bed.
We eventually decided that we also wanted some down time from our own kitchen and went out for breakfast. I have to say we have become very fussy eaters in recent years since ~90% of our food comes from our own garden/kitchen however, there are times like this morning where it feels sooooooooo fabulous to have some one else do the cooking for you…AND the washing up!
After much deliberation we all piled in to ‘Malvin the Mini’ and ended up at Campos, one of Brisbane’s most popular cafés in the Valley. This place is probably most notable for their reputation for quality coffee (they also have a great selection of herbal teas if you are not a coffee drinker!) BUT they have recently changed their menu and I think the folks in the kitchen are giving the roastery a good run for their money! There are now lots of enticing Vegetarian options (that can easily be converted to Vegan if need be). I had the Quinoa Bircher made with Coconut Milk and Tate had the Tofu Scramble ($15-20), which is what I wish I had ordered, not because I didn’t thoroughly enjoy my breakfast, but because I had a severe case of food envy after tasting a bite! If you have ever had one of those AWFUL Tofu experiences where you feel like you are chewing through rubber, I can guarantee these guys will turn things around for you! This stuff is the goods! From the happy snap below you could be forgiven for thinking it was Tuna! (that’s Tate’s arm on the right and some random’s hairy leg on the left!

Campos is also one of the few places we have found that also seems to hold on to their staff and not only are they some of the happiest people we have ever come across they really do seem to value their customers. A lady at a table next to us didn’t get her Watermelon juice, the waiter apologised appropriately, got it to her in under a minute and made sure she wasn’t charged. That kind of ‘old fashioned customer service’ doesn’t seem to happen much these days so it goes a long way. We didn’t even get the free juice and we were impressed!
Lastly, but not least, these guys get the BIG tick from us for having lots of bicycle AND dog parking. Evi LOVED the constant cuddles from people coming and going and the fact that the waiter (unprompted) went to check her water bowl and made exuberant noises about how beautiful and well behaved she was almost had us giving him a pat too!

Diggin' this?Tell your mates!
